OSU got on the scoreboard first, as they pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. The Beavers scored their runs on a Danny Hayes 2-run single to right center field to give OSU a 2-0 lead.

San Diego then answered right back by putting up six runs on two hits in the bottom half of the third inning. Chris Woolley then drew a walk, and both Lechich and Woolley moved up one base on a Lucas Hagberg sacrifice bunt. Jerod Smith then reached on a strikeout swinging, fielder's choice, which resulted in Lechich being thrown out at home and moving Woolley to third. Kris Bryant then drew a walk to load the bases. Dillon Haupt then hit an RBI infield single, and Smith would come home on a wild pitch. Andrew Daniel kept things going when he reached on an error by the third baseman, which scored Bryant from third. Connor Joe then walked to load the bases and Austin Green cleared the bases with a three-run double to right centerfield to give USD a 6-3 lead.

USD then kept things rolling in the bottom of the fourth inning, as they scored three runs on a Haupt three-run homer over the left centerfield fence to give USD a comfortable 9-2 lead. USD never looked back, as they went on to score one run in each of the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to cap their scoring for the day. OSU would score one run in the top of the seventh to put the game at its final of 13-3.

Offensively for the Toreros, Haupt led the way, as he went 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI.
