SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego's junior right-hander David Hill was dominate yet again on the mound, as he helped guide the Torero baseball team (19-13, 10-3 WCC) to a 8-0 win over University of the Pacific (7-25, 5-8 WCC) Friday evening in a West Coast Conference game at Fowler Park.

Hill (7-2) had the Pacific hitters off kilter all night long, as he scattered four hits, while recording 11 strikeouts in 8.0 innings of work. After giving up a single in the top of the fourth, he retired 11 of his final 12 batters. Pacific's Jake Jenkins (1-5) was saddled with the loss on the mound for the Tigers, as he allowed four runs on 11 hits in 6.2 innings of work.

San Diego pushed across one run in the bottom of the third inning on three hits. Colton Waltner got things started with a single up the middle, and he moved to third on a Jesse Jenner single through the left side, and Jenner moved to second on a throwing error by the left fielder. Jerod Smith then drove in Waltner with a single to the shortstop, giving USD a 1-0 lead.

After USD doubled its lead with one run in the sixth on a Riley Adams RBI single, San Diego broke open the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring a pair of runs. Kyle Holder got things started with a double off the right field fence. Waltner then drew a walk, and two batters later, Smith drew another walk to load the bases. Austin Bailey then drove in the two runs with a single to left center, giving USD a 4-0 lead.

USD then added on four more unearned runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to cap the scoring for the day.

Offensively for the Toreros, Waltner led the way, as he went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Jenner also had a good day at the plate, as he went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they resume this WCC series with the Tigers at 6 p.m. inside the friendly confines of Fowler Park.
