SAN DIEGO - Kelsi Dantu scored two penalty kick goals to help lead San Diego to its fifth consecutive victory, defeating LMU, 3-2, on Thursday night at Torero Stadium.
The victory keeps the Toreros (6-8, 4-0 WCC) atop the WCC leaderboard with Pepperdine before the two sides square off Saturday night at 7 p.m. (PT).
Dantu created the first penalty kick opportunity just 3:32 into the game. She carried with pace into the penalty box and had her legs clipped from behind. She stepped to the spot and buried a shot to the lower left corner of the goal.
Natalie Copenhaver created the second penalty kick opportunity for the Toreros, dribbling between two Lions (6-6-3, 1-4 WCC) before being taken down in the 61st minute. Dantu stepped to the spot for a second time and slotted a perfectly-placed shot to the bottom right corner of the goal.
Dantu is second on the team with four goals on the season.

Summer Mason continued to tear through conference competition and registered her team-leading eighth goal of the season. Halle Walls sent a through-ball from the Toreros own half through the center of the field. Mason blew by a pair of defenders, beat LMU's goalkeeper to the 50-50 ball and tapped in a shot to the center of the goal.
Mason has scored six goals during the Toreros five-game winning-streak.
Tara Meier helped lead a strong defensive performance by the Toreros.
USD's defense - consisting primarily of Courtney Coate, Natalie Copenhaver, Abby King and Tara Meier - did well to limit the Lions scoring opportunities. LMU generated 17 shots but only seven were on frame. Goalkeeper, Amber Michel, made five saves and was excellent coming off her line to clear away crosses and long-balls over the top.
USD will look to extend its winning-streak on Saturday when it plays host to Pepperdine at 7 p.m. It will be Senior Night and the Toreros will honor its three graduating seniors, Coate, Meier and Ally Ocon.
