JACKSONVILLE, FL â€" Anthony Lawrence tossed a personal-best six touchdowns and the Torero defense turned in a dominating day as San Diego won its 17th consecutive PFL victory with today's 63-10 victory at Jacksonville. Lawrence completed 18-of-24 passes for 268 yards on the day. His six touchdown passes were one off the Torero mark set by Josh Johnson (2005) and Eric Rasmussen (2002), both against Valparaiso. With the win USD improves to 4-0 in the PFL and 5-2 overall.

In the first quarter the Toreros took the opening drive of the game 78 yards with Anthony Lawrence connecting with Nate Loya for a 24-yard touchdown at the 10:12 mark. Lawrence was 5-for-6 for 74 yards on the drive with a 30-yard completion to Michael Bandy to the JU 24-yard line that set up Loya's score on the next play. The Torero defense stopped Jacksonville on their opening drive, and the Dolphins pushed the Toreros into a punt on their second possession. Jack Flatau boomed a personal-best 71-yard punt down to Jacksonville's 8-yard line with 5:55 to go. Once again the Torero defense forced the Dolphins into a punt after just three plays, and with just 24 seconds to go in the quarter Lawrence connected with Loya again for a 32-yard score on a 4th-and-7 play to put the Toreros up 14-0 at the end of the quarter.

With 13:11 in the half Jacksonville had a chance to put some points on the board, but Javier Arce-Ramirez missed on a 32-yard field goal attempt that was wide right. USD marched down the field once again to extend their lead to 21-0 with 6:48 to go. Joseph Binda Jr. punched it in from 5 yards out that culminated a 10-play, 80-yard drive. Binda had five carries for 38 yards on the drive, including a 20-yard sprint. Michael Bandy hauled in another nice reception as well with a 24-yard catch.

David Tolbert recovered a fumble by Keenan Simpson on the Jacksonville 40-yard line and seven plays later Lawrence connected with Ross Dwelley for 11 yards to push the score to 28-0. On the ensuing kickoff, Patrick Murray's pulled off a short kick to the JU 30 yard line with 1:01 to go that freshman Brandon Micale dove on and recovered. Lawrence connected with Dwelley for back-to-back receptions for 29 and one yard to make the score 35-0 with 43 ticks left. Lawrence completed the half 16-for-21 for 220 yards and four TD passes. USD would end the half with 303 yards of offense while the Torero defense limited the Dolphins to just 110 yards of offense on 23 plays.

In the second half Jacksonville started with the ball but on their second play saw Kishan Patel intercept Wells at the JAX 31-yard line and return it 8 yards to the 23. Following a 3-yard rush by Emilio Martinez, Lawrence tossed his fifth touchdown, this time 20 yards to Justin Priest for a commanding 42-0 advantage. Following a blocked San Diego punt, the Dolphins would prevent the shutout with a 32-yard field goal by Arce-Ramirez with to go. Lawrence would answer with his personal-best sixth TD pass, this time to Priest again for 28 yards and 4:06 to go in the third.

Early in the 4th quarter sophomore running back Jordan Charles busted loose for a 63-yard touchdown to make it 56-3. The Dolphins would score their first touchdown with 9:54 to go with Wells connecting with Jake McGuire for 40 yards to make it 56-10. Back-up quarterback Reid Sinnett would add a 7-run for a score with 1:34 left for the final 63-10 tally. The 63 points is the most by a Torero team in eleven seasons when San Diego dealt Jacksonville a 62-23 loss at Torero Stadium in 2007.

For the offense Lawrence tossed two touchdowns each to receivers Nate Loya (24, 32), Ross Dwelley (11, 1) and Justin Priest (20, 28). Dwelley finished with a team-high 6 receptions for 81 yards. Michael Bandy chipped in with six receptions for 69 yards. On the strength of his 63-yard touchdown sprint, sophomore Jordan Charles paced the ground attack with 80 yards on just five carries. He was aided by Joseph Binda Jr. (12 rushes, 53 yards, 1 TD) and Emilio Martinez (10 for 45 yards). The Torero defense, which held Jacksonville to 235 yards of offense, was paced by NB Max Michaels (8 tackles), LB Marcus Vaiao (8 tackles), David Tolbert (5 stops, 1 fumble recovery) and CB Kishan Patel (interception). Jonathan Petersen chipped in 3 tackles but will head to Stetson in search of his next sack to set USD's all-time mark. Punter Jack Flatau had a big game as he boomed three for an average of 55.3 yards and one inside the JU 20.

Next week the Toreros return to Florida to take on the Stetson Hatters on October 28th. Game time is slated for 10:00 a.m. (Pacific) with Ben Higgins filling in for Jack Cronin on the ESPN 1700 AM radio call.
