SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" Behind six RBI from Riley Adams, the No. 25 USD baseball team (25-9, 12-3) knocked off Pacific 10-4 to complete the series sweep Saturday afternoon at Fowler Park. With the Toreros trailing 4-1, Adams hit an opposite field grand slam to give USD the lead. He would hit a two-run homer later in the game to finish the game with six RBI, the highest for a Torero this season. Paul Richan improved to 4-0, giving up just one earned run over seven solid innings.

Roman Garcia led off the second with a double to the left center gap. He moved up to third on a Colton Waltner fly out to right and scored on a Brhet Bewley sacrifice fly to deep center to give USD a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers took the lead in the top of third, scoring four runs, three of which were unearned. With the bases loaded, James Free hit an RBI single through the right side, moving all the runners up one base. Two batters later, Ryan Schalch hit a ball over centerfielder Colton Waltner's head for a bases-clearing three-run double, giving the Tigers a 4-1 lead. That would be the last hit Richan would allow; he retired his final 13 batters.

The Toreros responded in the bottom of the third with a Riley Adams opposite field grand slam, the first of his career, giving USD back the lead (5-4).

Adams struck again in the bottom of the fifth; this time with a two run homer to left to put USD up 7-4. Hunter Mercado-Hood extended his hitting streak to 17 games with a two-run single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth, pushing the Toreros lead to 9-4.

Paul Kunst notched a RBI single in the eighth, completing the scoring for the Toreros. Kunst is now hitting over .300 in WCC games.

Richan (4-0) earned his fourth win of the year, giving up just one earned run on five hits over seven innings while striking out nine Tigers. Sean Barry pitched the final two innings, giving up two hits and striking out three.

The Toreros improve to a season best 16 games over .500 (25-9) and hold a one game lead in the WCC standings with a 12-3 record.

USD faces No. 8 Cal State Fullerton at the Diamond at Lake Elsinore Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and then hosts BYU for a three game series beginning Thursday.
