San Diego will face Gonzaga and Portland on the road this weekend

SAN DIEGO – San Diego travels to the Pacific Northwest for a pair of WCC matchups this weekend.
 
The Toreros (4-6-2, 0-1-0 WCC) will take on Gonzaga (2-7-2, 0-1-0 WCC) on Friday at 7 p.m. before facing No. 7 Portland (9-0-2, 1-0-0 WCC) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
• Miguel Berry scored his third goal of the season but the Toreros fell to San Francisco, 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. 
 
• San Francisco scored in the sixth and 58th minutes to take a 2-0 lead before Berry scored on a penalty kick in the 60th minute. The Toreros outshot the Dons 18-10 but their comeback came up just short. 
 
• Goalkeeper Matt Wiher matched his career high with eight saves in the contest.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH GONZAGA
• The Toreros lead the all-time series with Gonzaga, 27-7-2. In their last meeting, USD came away with the victory in overtime, 2-1. After the Toreros surrendered a goal early, Ulber Perez scored in the 70th minute to level it at 1-1 and Miguel Berry secured the game-winner for the Toreros in overtime for the 2-1 victory.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES WITH PORTLAND
• San Diego holds the slight advantage over Portland in the all-time series, 21-18-6. Last season, Djordje Babic scored in the 64th minute to help lead the Toreros to a 1-1 draw against the Pilots.
 
LEADING THE ATTACK
• Miguel Berry is pacing the offense for the Toreros with seven points including a team-high three goals and one assist. He has tallied 42 shots, which puts him second in the WCC.
 
IN THE BOX
• Goalkeeper Matt Wiher has been playing well in goal for the Toreros. He has started nine matches for USD and tallied 35 saves.
 
• The sophomore is ranked second in the WCC in goals-against average (0.80), save percentage (0.833) shutouts (3). Wiher ranks in the top 50 nationally in save percentage (16th) and goals-against average (37th).
 
• Wiher made a career-high eight saves in San Diego's 1-0 victory over CSUN on Sept. 23, and then tied that with eight saves against San Francisco in a 2-1 loss on Oct. 7.
 
BRIAN QUINN ERA BEGINS
• After eight seasons as an assistant coach and three years as an associate head coach, Quinn took the reins of the program in 2018 and made his head coaching debut against UC Irvine on Aug. 24. 
 
• Seamus McFadden, who served as the head coach for the first 39 years of the program, remains on Quinn's staff as an assistant. Mike Nicholson continues on as an assistant coach and enters his 14th year with the program in 2018.
