SAN DIEGO – San Diego will travel to Los Angeles to take on No. 13 Cal Poly in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 6 p.m. PT in the Galen Center at USC.

The Toreros (16-12) will compete in their ninth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, 17th in the past 18 years and 21st in the past 23 years. The winner of the match between USD and the Mustangs (25-2) will take on the winner of Friday's second first-round match between No. 11 USC and Samford on Saturday at 7 p.m.

It is the second consecutive postseason the Toreros will travel to USC and third time in the past four years. USD fell to the Trojans 3-2 in the second round of last year's tournament and dropped a 3-0 decision in the second round in 2015.

TOREROS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
• It will be USD's 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance all-time and ninth consecutive. The Toreros hold a tournament record of 15-21 and have advanced to the second round in two of the past three years.

• USD's best finish in the tournament is the Sweet 16, which it has accomplished three times (2004, 2006, 2013).

• San Diego battled back from a two-set deficit but fell to Pepperdine, 3-2, in their final match of the regular season.

Addie Picha led San Diego's defensive efforts at the net, registering nine blocks and
Kelli Barry was all over the back-court, accounting for 25 of the Toreros' 64 digs.

• The teams were matched evenly in hitting percentage, with San Diego hitting .170 compared to Pepperdine's .189. However, the Waves dominated from the service line, recording nine aces, while USD only collected three.

• The Toreros are 10-6 all-time against the Mustangs and have won the past four meetings, sweeping the last two. The most recent contest was on Sept. 8, 2012, with USD winning 3-0.
