 SAN DIEGO—San Diego will travel to face California Baptist for a midweek matchup before playing host to Portland for a WCC weekend series beginning Thursday.

The Toreros (22-14, 7-8 WCC) will take on the Lancers (23-12) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Riverside, Calif. before facing the Pilots (20-17, 2-13 WCC) on Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fowler Park.

LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego went 1-3 last week, falling to LBSU 5-4 and dropping the series with LMU, 2-1. The Toreros fell 10-4 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday before taking the Sunday finale, 11-8.

The Toreros hit .234 (32-for-137) with five doubles, four home runs and 19 RBIs. USD posted a .358 slugging percentage and .335 on-base percentage in four games.

Standout Performance of the Week
•Â
Adam Kerner went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs in Sunday's 11-8 win over LMU. Kerner hit two solo home runs in the contest, coming in the fourth and ninth innings and added an RBI single in the sixth inning for USD.

USD vs Long Beach State
• San Diego could not overcome an early deficit and fell to Long Beach State, 5-4, on Tuesday evening.

• The Toreros were behind early after the Dirtbags put up two runs in the first and three runs in the third to take a 5-0 lead. USD rallied to score two runs in the fourth and an additional run in both the sixth and eighth innings to make it a one-run game.

• In the bottom of the ninth, the Toreros advanced a runner to third with one out to represent the tying run. However, a ground ball was thrown home to get the runner and effectively shut down USD's comeback.

USD vs LMU
Game 1: San Diego 4, BYU 10
• The Toreros fell behind early after the Lions scored two runs in the first, one in the second and two more in the third to take a 5-0 lead. USD rallied late after
Paul Kunst hit a solo home run in the seventh and the Toreros added three more runs in the eighth but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
• It was a game of missed opportunities for the Toreros who left 13 runners on base including loaded bases in the third and the pivotal eighth-inning rally.

Tora Otsuka finished 2-for-3 with a double and
Ripken Reyes went 2-for-4 with an RBI after drawing a walk with the bases loaded.

Game 2: San Diego 2, BYU 3
• The Toreros jumped out in front, scoring two runs in the first on an RBI single from
Jeff Houghtby and a sacrifice flyout to right by
Chris McCready. USD then loaded the bases in the second inning with two outs but could not convert, leaving seven runners on base through the first four innings.

• The Lions scored a run in the third and added another in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 2-2. The LMU pitching staff held the Toreros hitless through the final five innings to secure the win and clinch the series.

Grady Miller pitched 4.2 innings for USD, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
Travis Kuhn was credited with the loss, coming in for the last out of the fifth inning to finish out the game.

Tora Otsuka finished the day 3-for-5 with a double and a run, while Houghtby and McCready were credited with RBIs for USD.
Shane McGuire finished 1-for-2 with two walks and a run.

Game 3: San Diego 11, BYU 8
• San Diego fought off a late comeback from LMU to take the series finale 11-8 on Sunday afternoon.

• After solo home runs from Colarossi and Kerner in the third and fourth innings, the Toreros piled on six runs in the top of the sixth to take an 8-0 lead. USD held a 9-1 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh before the Lions came storming back, putting up seven runs in the seventh to make it a one-run game.

• In the top of the eighth,
Cody Jefferis gave the Toreros some breathing room, scoring from third on a wild pitch and Kerner added an insurance run in the ninth with a two-out solo home run—his second of the game—to make it 11-8, USD.

• The Lions threatened in the bottom of the ninth, with runners on first and second with no outs.
Travis Kuhn took over on the mound for USD and retired three Lions in a row with two strikeouts and a foul-out to clinch the victory for the Toreros and earn his second save of the season.
