SAN DIEGO—San Diego will play host to Long Beach State for a midweek matchup before traveling to LMU for a weekend series.

The Toreros (21-11, 6-6 WCC) will take on the Dirtbags (4-26) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Fowler Park before facing the WCC's top-ranked Lions (20-11, 9-3 WCC) on Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. in Los Angeles, Calif.

LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego went 3-1 last week, defeating UC Riverside 7-6 and taking the series with BYU, 2-1. The Toreros took the first two games 15-5 and 6-5 (10 innings) before dropping the finale to the Cougars, 17-4.

The Toreros hit .361 (52-for-144) with six doubles, one triple, six home runs and 28 RBIs. USD posted a .542 slugging percentage and .445 on-base percentage in four games.

Standout Performance of the Week
•Â
Paul Kunst finished the week 10-for-15Â (.667) including two doubles and a home run. The redshirt junior was 3-for-4 in three of the Toreros four games, scoring four runs and driving in three additional runs, including two in USD's 6-4 walk-off victory over the Cougars in the 10th inning Friday night.

• Kunst started all four games in center field for USD, posting a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .647 on-base percentage, helping the Toreros to a 3-1 record for the week.

USD vs UC Riverside
• San Diego broke a 6-6 tie in the ninth inning to secure a 7-6 victory over UC Riverside on Tuesday evening.

• After trailing for most of the contest, the Toreros scored a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth to knot the game at 6-6.
Jack Dolak retired the Highlanders in order to keep the game tied and send it to the bottom of the ninth.

• The Toreros loaded the bases and on a 2-2 pitch,
Ripken Reyes was drilled in the back to earn a free base and force in the winning run for the walk off victory.Â
USD vs BYU
Game 1: San Diego 15, BYU 5
• San Diego used a powerful offense and solid performances on the mound to take game one of its weekend series with BYU, 15-5 on Thursday.

Chris McCready got things going early, hitting a two-out grand slam in the first inning and
Paul Kunst followed with a solo home run in the second to give the Toreros an early 5-0 lead.
Â
• The Cougars would answer, putting up four runs in the fifth but the Torero bats were relentless, piling on two runs in the fifth and four runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to secure the win.

• McCready finished the day 3-for-4 with two runs and seven RBIs. His first inning home run was the second grand slam for McCready in three games. Kunst finish a triple shy of hitting for the cycle, also going 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs.

Chris Murphy (4-1, 2.91 ERA) got the start for USD, pitching 5.2 innings and giving up four runs (3 earned) on seven hits and five walks, with six strikeouts.
Travis Kuhn and
Grady Miller were excellent in relief of Murphy, with Kuhn collecting four strikeouts while giving up just one run on one hit and two walks.

Game 2: San Diego 6, BYU 5
• San Diego broke a 5-5 tie in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure the 6-5 victory over the Cougars on Friday night.

• With the bases loaded and one out,
Chris Colarossi hit a high chopper to the Cougars third-baseman who threw home to get the force-out at the plate. BYU's catcher dropped the ball and
Connor Doyle scored the winning run for the walk-off victory for USD.
Â
• Kunst finished the day 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while
Adam Kerner collected two hits and two runs on the night.
Caleb Ricketts went 2-for-3 and added a run and an RBI for the Toreros.

Jake Miller got the start for USD, pitching six innings and allowed four runs on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts for the Toreros.

Game 3: San Diego 4, BYU 17
• The Toreros dropped the series finale to the Cougars 17-4 on Saturday afternoon.Â

• The Cougars jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after a 2-RBI double in the first and a grand slam in the second. The Toreros got on the board in the third with an RBI groundout but BYU extended its lead with runs in the fourth (3), fifth (5) and sixth to make it 15-1 before the Toreros could answer.

Jeff Houghtby sent a 2-RBI single to right field in the sixth and
Chris Colarossi hit a solo home run in the seventh but the BYU lead proved too much to overcome for USD.
Ripken Reyes finished the day 3-for-4 with a double and a run while
Shane McGuire went 2-for-4, including a double and added a run and an RBI for the Toreros.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LONG BEACH STATE
• Toreros hold the slight advantage in the all-time series with the Dirtbags, 38-37-1 after winning 4-0 earlier this season in Long Beach, Calif.

Jake Miller was stellar on the mound in his first career start, going seven shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks with four strikeouts. The righthander retired 13 of 14 batters spanning from the last out of the second inning through the bottom of the sixth.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST LMU
• The Lions lead the all-time series 103-89-1 with the Toreros taking last season's series 2-1.Â

• After dropping the first contest 4-3, the Toreros came back to win the next two games 11-4 and 18-6 to complete the series win.
