Shooting 63% from the field, 58% from three-point land, and 93% from the free throw line, Portland defeated San Diego on Thursday, 92-60.  Senior Jase Townsend led the Toreros with 16 points and four assists. Townsend made 5-of-11 from the field, 2-of-4 from long range, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Junior Yavuz Gultekin added a career-high 15 points (7-11 FG) in addition to six rebounds.

Saint Mary's entered back into the national rankings at No. 23 this week. The Gaels are led by Matthias Tass, who scores 12.5 points per game with 6.2 rebounds per game. Tommy Kuhse adds 11.4 points and was recently named WCC Player of the Week. Logan Johnson has started all 28 games, scoring 11.0 points per contest and ranking 11th in the nation with 60 steals. Saint Mary's ranks 10th in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing just 60.0 PPG.
