STOCKTON, Calif – Winners of eight of its last 10 matches, San Diego volleyball (10-7, 5-2 WCC) heads up the coast to continue WCC play versus Pacific (13-7, 3-5 WCC) and Saint Mary's (5-11, 1-6 WCC) this weekend.
The matchup against the Tigers will begin on Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Gaels on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both of USD's matches this week will be streamed live on ESPN+, and live statistics will be available on PacificTigers.com and SMCGaels.com.
LAST TIME OUT: TOREROS DEFEAT FIRST-PLACE COUGARS
• San Diego secured a 3-1 (27-25, 11-25, 25-12, 25-19) victory over first-place Washington State before an energetic crowd of 986 fans at the Jenny Craig Pavilion last time out on Saturday afternoon (October 19).
• This crucial conference victory was driven by the Toreros' standout defense, which was led by
Haylee Stoner's season-high 11 blocks and
Madi Allen's match-high 20 digs. As a team, USD dominated at the net and in the back row, out-blocking and out-digging WSU to limit the Cougars to a mere .123 hitting percentage.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. PACIFIC
• The Toreros are 22-1 against the Tigers all-time, with the two programs' last meeting coming earlier this season on October 3rd, when USD beat UOP 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-18) in San Diego.
• That evening at the Jenny Craig Pavilion, USD's defense held Pacific to a miniscule .046 hitting percentage, spearheaded by
Kylie Munday's match-high 18 digs and
Kristen Erland and
Haylee Stoner's six total blocks apiece.

• The Toreros are 60-14 against the Gaels all-time, with the two programs' last meeting coming last October, when USD swept SMC in San Diego.

STONER AND OSUNSANMI EARN WCC WEEKLY AWARDS
• After helping lead San Diego to key wins over Portland and Washington State over the weekend,
Haylee Stoner and
Kennedy Osunsanmi have been named the Credit Union 1 WCC Defensive Player of the Week and WCC Freshman of the Week for October 21, 2024, the West Coast Conference announced on Monday afternoon.
• Stoner, a middle blocker from nearby San Marcos, California, totaled 17 block assists, two solo blocks and four digs last week. On Thursday night against the Pilots, she garnered six total blocks (one solo) and two digs. During the Toreros' 3-1 victory over the Cougars, Stoner racked up 11 block assists (one solo) and another two digs. This is Stoner's first weekly conference award of 2024 and the third of her career. She was previously named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week on September 26, 2022 and November 23, 2022. Stoner is the second Torero to earn the league's weekly defensive nod this season after
Madi Allen was selected on back on September 23.
• Osunsanmi, an opposite from Stevenson Ranch, California, recorded 21 kills, two service aces, 10 block assists and nine digs last week to earn her third career WCC Freshman of the Week honor. She got things started with eight kills, a service ace, five digs and five block assists against the Pilots, then helped push the Toreros to a big win over the first-place Cougars with a team-high 13 kills, one service ace, four digs and five blocks.
A FAMILIAR FOE FOR ERLAND
• Kristen Erland played her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons with the Gaels, during which she earned All-WCC Freshman Team and All-WCC Second Team honors.
• Saturday will mark her first match at UCU Pavilion (and against SMC) since transferring to San Diego prior to the 2024 season.
HAMMERED BY HAYLEE

Haylee Stoner currently ranks first in the WCC and 30th in the NCAA with her .392 hitting percentage.
• She earned her career-best single-game hitting percentage (.778) on October 3rd versus Oregon State and has recorded five games this season hitting .600 or higher.
