SAN DIEGO — The University of San Diego women's rowing team opened its 2026-27 season by winning all three events it entered Saturday morning at the Rowing Cares regatta on Mission Bay.

USD's A eight won the women's collegiate eight in 13:36.914, and the B eight placed second in 13:59.307 to give the Toreros a 1-2 finish. San Diego State's A boat was third in 15:19.170.

Two more wins came in the 8:40 a.m. races. USD's A four took the women's open four in 16:06.264, and Torero crews claimed the top four spots in the women's open pair.

The B pair posted the winning time of 16:37.942, less than four seconds faster than the A pair's 16:41.939. The D pair was third in 17:14.558, and the C pair was fourth in 18:19.208.

"I really enjoy starting the season with this event," USD head coach Katie Thurstin said. "All proceeds from the event stay in the community and help families impacted by cancer."

"It's really early in the season and it was nice to see the team show up ready to race," Thurstin said. "I'm really excited to see what happens in two weeks when we send a crew to Boston to race in the Head of the Charles and for our next home event, the Fall Classic, on Nov. 8."
