MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's College Gales walked off with a stunning win over the University of San Diego baseball team Saturday afternoon at Luis Guisto Field.

After the two teams finished off a 15-inning game that began on Friday, and had the last four innings played on Saturday, both teams then played a 9-inning game that saw the Gaels rally and score three runs in the ninth to walk off with the win.

After USD took a 2-run lead into the bottom of the ninth by scoring runs on a Jerod Smith run-scoring double and a Ben Wylly RBI single, SMC then managed to score three runs on four hits in the bottom of the ninth. The Gales runs came on a Connor Hornsby RBI single, a Colin Ferguson 2-run double to put the game at its final of 10-9.

With the loss, the Toreros fall to 24-17 overall, and move to 13-7 in the WCC. With the win, the Gaels improve to 22-19 overall, and 8-12 in the WCC, while evening this series with USD.

SMC got on the scoreboard first, as they managed to push across a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, USD answered right back in the top of the sixth inning by scoring three runs. Ryan Kirby got things started with a walk, and he moved to second when Bryson Brigman reached on a fielding error by the SMC shortstop. After Kirby moved to third when Kyle Holder reached on a fielder's choice, a fielding error scored Kirby from third, and the final two runs came on a Jesse Jenner double to give USD a 3-2 lead.

The Gaels then scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth, while USD scored four in the eighth and two more in the ninth to set up the SMC rally.

Offensively for the Toreros, Jenner led the way, as he went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Brigman also had a good day, as he went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI.

Daniel Reitzler (1-1) was saddled with the loss on the mound for the Toreros, as he allowed three runs on three hits in 1.0 innings of work. Vince Braman (1-0) picked up the win for the Gales, as he allowed two runs on three hits in 1.0 innings of work.

San Diego and Saint Mary's will conclude this three-game WCC series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. rubber game at Luis Gusto Field.
