USD vs CSUS Boxscore May 13 
SAN DIEGO - The USD Toreros overcame a 3-1 deficit midway through tonight's contest to earn a 5-3 victory over the visiting Sacramento State Hornets. Jay Schuyler and Roman Garcia each contributed 2 RBIs each and senior Troy Conyers struck out the side in the 8th and 9th innings to earn his 11th save of the season. Jonathan Teaney pitched two innings without allowing a hit to run his record to 4-1 on the year.
USD got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third when Riley Adams doubled down the right field line to plate Aidan Stinnett who had reached base via a single. In the 4th the Hornets received a 2-RBI single from Blake Edmonson. In the 5th inning Ian Dawkins led off with a homer to left field to extend the Hornets lead to 3-1.
The Toreros scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to knot the score at 3-all. Jay Schuyler had an RBI double in the inning, and with the bases loaded, Roman Garcia was hit by a pitch to plate Hunter Mercado-Hood. USD added two more runs in the 7th inning to take control of the game. Mercado-Hood walked and would score on Schuyler's second double of the game. Schyuler would then cross the plate on Garcia's sacrifice fly to center field.
Conyers was unhittable over the final two innings as he allowed just one walk while getting six Hornets to strike out swinging. For the game Mercado-Hood finished 2-for-3 with 2 runs; Jay Schuyler went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 1 run; and Roman Garcia knocked in 2 RBI.
Sacramento State was paced by Ian Dawkins (3-for-5 with 1 run, 1 RBI). He was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle this evening. Ty Fox took the loss in relief to fall to 2-1 on the season. The series finale is Sunday with first pitch slated for 1:00 pm.
