LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego finished the Tony Gwynn Legacy weekend 1-2, dropping contests to Oklahoma on Friday (1-6) and Utah on Sunday (5-6). The Toreros got the win on Saturday, 14-4, over Missouri State.

• The Toreros held a 1-0 lead heading into the seventh inning against OU, but the Sooners hit a grand slam in the top of the inning to pull ahead, adding two more runs in the ninth to seal the victory.

• Chris Murphy (1-1, 3.18 ERA) got the start on the mound for USD and pitched a gem through six innings. Murphy and the Toreros retired 18 of the first 19 batters faced, including 12 strikeouts, before two singles and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases for the Sooners in the seventh. OU's Tyler Hardman sent a ball over the left field wall to put the Sooners up, 4-1.

• Murphy went 6.1 innings for the Toreros, giving up three hits and four runs with one walk and 12 strikeouts.

• Nathan Walker collected five strikeouts, giving up one walk, one hit and two runs in relief of Murphy. Walker's only allowed hit was a two-RBI triple by Hardman in the top of the ninth, which effectively put the game out of reach for USD.

• Caleb Ricketts went 2-for-3 with six RBIs in San Diego's 14-4 victory over Missouri State on Saturday night at Fowler Park.

• The freshman infielder put the Toreros on the board in the first inning, flying out to left field to score Max Jung-Goldberg from third and followed it up with a 3-RBI triple and 2-RBI double later in the contest.

• The Toreros scored runs in the first three innings, including a 2-RBI triple by Ripken Reyes to take an 8-0 lead before the Bears got on the board in the top of the fourth with a two-out RBI single up the middle.

• MSU got three more runs in the top of the sixth, but the Toreros answered immediately when Ricketts hit a triple down the right field line with the bases loaded to make it 11-4, Toreros. One inning later, Ricketts hit a double to right center field for two more RBIs and a 14-4 lead for USD.

• Josh Hendrickson (2-0, 0.82 ERA) got the start for the Toreros, pitching 5.0 innings, giving up four hits and one run, with two walks and six strikeouts.

• The Toreros held a 5-2 lead heading into the seventh against Utah on Sunday, but an error and back-to-back walks loaded the bases for the Utes in the top of the inning. Utah scored three runs in the seventh to tie the game 5-5.

• The Utes scored again on a single up the middle in the eighth to take the 6-5 lead, their first of the contest. The Toreros threatened with base runners in the final three innings but were unable to convert, stranding six down the stretch.

• Freshman Jake Miller (1-0, 0.00 ERA) got the start on the mound for USD, his second of the season. The righthander went 4.0 innings, with no runs, no hits, five walks and six strikeouts.

• Travis Kuhn (0-1, 3.86 ERA) was credited with the loss for USD, going 3.0 innings and giving up two runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

• The Toreros scored two runs in the first, one in the second and two in the sixth. Shane McGuire finished the day 2-for-3 including a double and two RBIs. Adam Lopez also went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAN DIEGO STATE
