LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego went 1-3 last week after falling on Tuesday at No. 21 UC Irvine, 17-7 and dropping its WCC series to Gonzaga 1-2. The Toreros took the opening game against GU on Friday, 4-2 in 12 innings before falling 15-3 on Saturday and 11-9 on Sunday.

• The Toreros hit .262 (39-for-149) with nine doubles, one triple, four home runs and 23 RBIs. USD posted a .416 slugging percentage and .347 on-base percentage in four games.

Standout Performance of the Week
• Chris McCready finished the week 7-of-12 (.583) including a double, a triple and home run for the Toreros. The redshirt senior added four runs and five RBIs for USD, finishing with a 1.083 slugging percentage and .643 on-base percentage.

• McCready went 4-for-5 in Sunday's finale at Gonzaga, including a ninth inning grand slam home run and finished one double shy of the cycle.

USD vs UC Irvine
• The Toreros could not overcome an early eight-run deficit and fell to No. 21 UC Irvine 17-7 on Tuesday evening.

• The Anteaters jumped out to an early 9-1 lead after a three-run home run in the first inning, adding six more runs in the bottom of the second. The Toreros answered in the third scoring four runs on a Cody Jefferis RBI double, a Tora Otsuka RBI single and a two-run home run by Ripken Reyes—his first of the season.

• UCI would effectively stall USD's momentum one inning later, piling on five runs on four hits to take a 14-5 lead and never look back. The Toreros added a run in both the sixth and seventh innings, but the Anteaters answered each time, scoring one run in the sixth and two in the bottom of the eighth.

• Reyes paced the Toreros offensively, going 3-for-5 including the two-run homer in the third. He also added two runs for USD. Chris McCready finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run and Shane McGuire went 2-for-5 including a leadoff double in the second to extend a nine-game hitting streak.

USD vs Gonzaga
Game 1: San Diego 4, Gonzaga 2
• Stephen Dubb hit a two-RBI double in the 12th inning to secure the 4-2 victory over Gonzaga on Friday night.

• The Toreros (18-8, 4-3 WCC) held a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before the Bulldogs (10-12, 3-4 WCC) rallied to tie the game 2-2. With runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the 12th, Dubb sent a line drive into the left field corner to score Shane McGuire and Chris McCready to retake the lead.

• Gonzaga threatened in the bottom of the twelfth with a runner on third with one out, but two Grady Miller strikeouts secured the extra-inning victory for USD.

• Chris Murphy turned in one of his best performances of the season for the Toreros. The junior left-hander went seven shutout innings for USD, allowing just two hits and two walks and collecting seven strikeouts.

• Shane McGuire and Ripken Reyes both finished the day with two hits—including a double—and a run and McGuire extended a 10-game hitting streak for USD.

Game 2: San Diego 3, Gonzaga 15
•The Toreros jumped out to 2-0 lead Saturday night after a two-run home run by Jeff Houghtby in the top of the third. However, the Bulldogs answered immediately tacking on three runs in the bottom of the inning and adding two more in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead.

•USD would get one back in the top of the sixth on a two-out RBI single up the middle by Tora Otsuka, but the GU offense exploded for 10 runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings to effectively shut down the comeback.

•Houghtby finished the day with 1-for-2 with two runs, also reaching on a walk and being hit by a pitch. His two-RBI homer was one of only three Torero hits in the ballgame and his second home run of the season. Cody Jefferis produced the only other hit for USD, reaching on a single through the right side and providing the second RBI for Houghtby.

Game 3: San Diego 9, Gonzaga 11
• After rallying in the top of the ninth, San Diego fell to Gonzaga 11-9 on a walk-off 3-run home run on Sunday afternoon.

• The Toreros were down to their final out, trailing 6-5 before Chris McCready sent a ball over the right field wall with the bases loaded to put USD on top 9-6. But the Bulldogs would answer in the bottom of the ninth with a 2-RBI double to make it a one-run game.

• With two on and two outs, Gonzaga's Daniel Fredrickson sent one over the right field wall to secure the walk-off victory for the Bulldogs.

• Travis Kuhn and Grady Miller shouldered most of the load out of the bullpen for USD, combining for 7.2 innings of work and giving up five runs on six hits. Kuhn collected three strikeouts in the contest.

• Nathan Walker was credited with the loss, coming in midway through the ninth inning and giving up the game-winning home run.

• McCready was excellent at the plate for the Toreros, finishing the day 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs. He finished the day one double shy of hitting for the cycle with two singles, a triple and the grand slam home run.
