Mark Lewis Promoted to Associate Head Coach

The San Diego women's rowing program has announced the promotion of Mark Lewis to the position of Associate Head Coach of Women's Rowing.

"Mark has been an incredible asset to the program and this promotion is well-deserved," said head coach Dave Cormier. "In addition to his proven expertise on the water and excellent results, he has shown the perfect blend of hard-work, dedication, and kindness that we hope to instill in our scholar athletes. His unmatched sense of humor doesn't hurt either. I have no doubt that Mark is ready to be a successful head coach at the DI level, and we're lucky to have him with us."

Before arriving in San Diego, Lewis served as the head coach of Hollis Brookline Crew in New Hampshire as well as the women's varsity coach at UMass Lowell. Under his direction, UML secured its first ever program win at the New England Rowing Championships. Prior to arriving in the US, Lewis had a 15+ year international career as both a lightweight and heavyweight rower.

Lewis is entering his third season at USD and is primarily responsible for the Toreros' 2V8+, who most recently placed 1st at the WCC Rowing Championships. He is currently on the road at the Royal Henley Regatta in the United Kingdom, recruiting some of the fastest athletes in the world.

San Diego women's rowing are set to begin action for their 2024 fall season in October.
