Toreros Piece Together Solid Showing at MPSF Open Water

USD was in action in Long Beach for their fourth meet of the season

LONG BEACH – Competing in the greater Los Angeles area for the second time in three weeks, the San Diego swimming and diving team competed in the MPSF Open Water meet at Long Beach on Saturday morning at Marine Stadium. 

24 total San Diego swimmers raced across two separate events during Saturday's open water competition, with the Toreros solidly placing in the 2000 meter freestyle relay with the quartet of Milan Bever, Alison Diehl, Olivia Anfinson, Erin Kau who turned in eight place in a race of 17 schools.

Individually, the Toreros secured some scrappy performances in the women's 5,000 freestyle event from sophomore Sydney Wilson who placed highest for USD at No. 26 with a time of 1:06:03.00, and junior Skylar Bruner tied for No. 36 with a time of 1:07:42.00.

USD swimming and diving will stay in Southern California for another meet on the road in their long tenure away from home as they will be in Claremont for a dual meet with Pomona-Pitzer and California Baptist on October 25 beginning at 10:00 a.m from Haldeman Pool.
