BOSTON – San Diego Men's Rowing kicked off it's fall season racing two boats at one of the world's most famous regattas, the Head of the Charles, on Sunday, Oct. 19.
In the competitive fields, the Toreros finished 14
th in the Collegiate Eight event with a time of 15:05.63, the best finish in the event for USD under head coach
Bart Thompson. In the Collegiate Fours, San Diego finished 11
th, with a time of 16:43.26.
The Torero eight was just seven seconds off of the top 10 and the four was just a mere two seconds off the top 10 in their race 15-plus minute race.
"After winning gold in the Collegiate Four last year, we felt that it was the right time to prioritize the Collegiate Eight this year," head coach
Bart Thompson said. "We had set a target of finishing top 10 in both categories. Nonetheless, it was our best finish in the eight at the Head of the Charles so far. And for a group with only one senior, there's a lot of potential for growth as we move forward from here."
