CHULA VISTA – Back in action for their final tune up of the preseason, the San Diego Women's Rowing program was back on the water this weekend as they faced off against the Big 10's Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday morning on Otay Lake.
The Toreros fielded five boats on Saturday morning as the program competed in its first 2,000 meter race alongside a top notch opponent ahead of the 2025 spring season.
San Diego's second varsity eight crew had a strong showing that offered strong potential as the team looks ahead to the San Diego Crew Classic in two weeks time.
"We learned a lot from the racing and I was pleased to see us show a stronger challenge in the second set of races," San Diego interim head coach Mark Lewis said. "Minnesota as expected were strong and they outgunned us on the day, but it was great preparation for the strong field we'll see at the Crew Classic."
