SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego baseball team suffered a 6-4 loss to Cal State Fullerton Tuesday evening in a non-conference game at Fowler Park.
The Titans (17-14) got on the scoreboard first, as they scored two runs in the top of the first inning on two hits. The Fullerton runs came on Jerrod Bravo 2-run single to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.
San Diego (17-13) then responded in the bottom of the first inning by scoring three runs on five hits. Bryson Brigman led off the frame with a stand-up double down the left field line. After Waltner was caught stealing, Jesse Jenner kept things going with a single through the right side, and he moved to second on a Jerod Smith single up the middle. Ryan Kirby then doubled to right center to score the final two runs, and give USD a 3-2 lead.
Fullerton then went on to score two runs in the second, one in each of the third and seventh innings, and USD took back one run in the eighth to put the game at its final of 6-4.
Offensively for the Toreros, Smith led the way, as he went 3-for-4, while Jenner went 2-for-4 and Kirby went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
