SAN DIEGO – The University of San Diego Women's Track Team competed locally on Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Aztec Invitational at the SDSU Sports Deck. The Torero women did not disappoint in the second meet of the season – half of them notched personal bests
"They set a standard for both individual development and growth," USD Head Coach Will Guarino assessed of his team.
Friday night began with strong performances by senior Morgan Robinson and freshmen Kaitlyn McQuillen as they captured second and third place in their respective heats of the 1500m. Redshirt senior Aryam Jaimes produced a near-personal best as she got sixth in the second heat of her 1500m.
The 5000m group also continued the synergy with many personal records. The 5K was led by sophomore Jillian Lange and junior Stella Smith.
"The true winner that nobody will see is the power of working together, as the five kilometer pack carried the load throughout each lap", said Guarino. "Rebecca Bronstein ran an aggressive race, which was great to see as she opened up her 1600m with a time of 5:26. She may not have gotten a personal best, but she is learning how to race the event with an aggressive stance."
