SAN DIEGO — Getting back in the water for the first time this fall, the San Diego swimming and diving team were in action on Friday afternoon as they raced against crosstown foe San Diego State in the pentathlon at the USD Sports Center Pool. 

USD had 21 student-athletes racing on Friday as the Toreros and Aztecs competed in all five strokes with 11 total events on the docket. San Diego received a strong performance from freshman Alison Diehl in her first collegiate meet as she turned in a 12th place overall performance with a total time of 5:12.92 in her five races on Friday. 

Sydney Wilson put together a strong debut in her first Torero meet as she came in 17th place with a time of 5:19.80, and Skylar Bruner got her new season off to a strong start as she finished with a time of 5:23.15 on Friday good for 18th place.

USD swimming and diving will be back in action next week against the Aztecs as they will compete in a distance competition on Friday, September 26. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the USD Sports Center Pool, every Torero home meet is free and open to the public.
